The Grade Development Department in Västberga, Stockholm is responsible for the development of new cutting tool materials. Our team is part of Product Unit Rotating Tools and constantly stays up-to-date regarding our customers' needs and requirements - ensuring us to always be one step ahead to exceed expectations. We are now looking for an Experienced R&D Engineer to own one of our core grade areas within Milling and Drilling Grade Development. Your mission
In this position, you develop our next generation of outstanding cutting tool materials, and with your application knowledge, you are constantly improving our understanding of customer demands. You lead one of our grade areas - building a system of different technical building blocks and ensuring excellent knowledge of requirements - and you take responsibility for translating customers' needs into material properties in line with our business needs. With your technical and project management skills, you take responsibility for leading grade development projects (PDP an KDP's) - ensuring long-term competence within the area. And as you develop, execute and maintain the grade area road map, you take ownership of, and ensure its alignment with both our Technology Plan and our Product Plan.
Sharing knowledge and best practices with co-workers is also an important part of your job, as we always strive for improvements. By coaching and utilizing the expertise from colleagues, you take an active part in developing new methods, tools and processes. You report to the R&D Manager of Grades, within the Rotating department and some traveling is a natural part of your job.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master's or PhD in a relevant technical field. A background in Materials and Mechanical Engineering is advantageous. You have at least five years' experience from working with technology development or product development combined with experience in project management. Practical experience of metal cutting is beneficial. Preferably, you have a background from customer interaction related to capturing customer needs and taking them back to product development and, experience in writing reports and recording results of projects and tests and presenting these, is very beneficial. As we operate in a truly global environment you are fluent in English whilst knowledge in Swedish is advantageous.
