The Senior Project Manager plans, monitors, and directs projects to ensure a complete business solution is implemented. He or she will manage the contract and lead the project team to ensure projects meet established time, cost and technical objectives, culminating in client acceptance of results. The Project Manager conducts project progress reviews with client and with project teams, providing contingency and problem resolution plans as required.
The Project Manager will support both Teradata pre- and post sales efforts to implement Teradata Data Warehouses and Analytical Applications like CRM, Supply Chain Management, and Demand Chain Management for leading clients in the Financial, Retail, Communications, and Manufacturing industries.
The Project Manager is assigned to a project during the concept phase and will remain on a project through the end of the closeout. Typical team size for a project is 4 to 15 consultants.
• Managing offer development, generating the Statement of Work (scope, deliverables, budgets, and boundaries), supporting contract negotiations, and supporting the pre-contract management reviews
• Planning, implementing and controlling complex data warehouse solution projects, using Teradata's advocated methodologies (Teradata Solutions Methodology; Teradata Project Management)
• Support and motivate the project team throughout the project
• Manage work performed by subcontractors (internal and external organizations)
• Managing customer expectations and assuring project quality
• Assuming responsibility for the project budget and for achieving the defined project objectives
• Managing change requests, including their development, negotiation and implementation within the project scope
• Supporting the sales team in opportunity identification, customer presentations and customer relationship building
Education / Experience Requirements
• The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in IT industry related project management and be able to demonstrate the following experience and skill sets
• Proven experience in the management of Data Warehouse, BI, software development or system integration projects
• Experience in managing complex projects with contractual and budgetary responsibility
• Project Management "toolbox" experience with strong skills, methodologies, methods, and advanced usage of tools
• Good analyzing and consulting skills. Candidates with a Consulting background will be preferred.
• Good interpersonal, listening, oral, written communication and presentation skills. English language skills are essential.
• Ability and willingness to take accountability and to take the lead, driving the team and the project towards the goal
• Strong, flexible and positive personality, capable of working successfully with staff at all levels within an organization, getting things done through influencing where necessary. A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently with minimum management supervision is required
• Team player, excellent communication skills, high personal commitment and motivation, ability to work independently
• Have the necessary computer skills to publish professionally laid out documents and utilize existing project management and communication tools.
• Experience with a project management methodology
• Quick learner, ability to adapt to new and changing circumstances
• Bachelor or Master degree, preferably in Information Technology or Computer Science
• Fluent English
