About the Job
As Engineering Manager, your your focus is your team - the engineers you support, the delivery outcomes you enable, and the culture you help nurture. Think of yourself as the root system beneath a thriving tree: mostly unseen, but vital for growth, stability, and resilience.
People growth isn't a side project - it's the core of your craft:
• Regular 1:1s are sacred. They're where you listen deeply, uncover blockers, and help people reflect
- Growth plans are tailored. You help engineers shape learning goals that match their ambitions and the team's needs
- Mentorship matters. You connect engineers with the right opportunities and mentors - including yourself
You begin shaping culture not through slogans, but through consistency:
- You set expectations clearly and kindly
- You model accountability - and create a space where others do the same
-You foster inclusion, trust, and psychological safety in every interaction
You don't need to have all the answers. But you do need to ask the right questions and create space for people to explore, learn, and thrive.
You own delivery - not by doing the work yourself, but by making it possible for others to succeed:
• You work with product managers to shape realistic, valuable plans
- You help engineers scope work, remove blockers, and stay on track
- You keep the team's commitments visible and their progress clear
You are the mirror and the compass. You reflect the current state with clarity, and you help the team move forward with purpose
Examples of your impact
• A junior engineer grows into their next level, thanks to your consistent support.
- A project stays on track, not because it's simple - but because you spotted misalignment early and steered the team back
- You guide the team through its first retro where people open up - and things start to feel different
- You translate priorities clearly so your team doesn't live in confusion
Who you are
You are looking for a challenge in complicated and technically advanced solutions. You are skilled in organizing and prioritizing your work in an efficient manner and have a high level of quality consciousness in your work and excellent collaboration skills.
You have a very important role in our culture, where we expect you to:
• challenge without ego
• share credit generously
• seek progress over perfection
We believe that you want to grow by:
- Building a feedback-rich team culture.
- Practicing coaching skills (start with active listening).
- Learning how to navigate delivery - not just tasks, but systems of work.
Understanding your team's technical domain - enough to advocate wisely.
Also, build relationships with your peer managers and your own manager. You're no longer on this journey alone.
We expect you to have:
• 10+ years of experience within software development
- Great knowledge of software design
- Excellent skills in several coding languages
- Management experience of leading a team of software developers (+ 1 year manager experience)
- Experience in agile development in a team
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
- As a minimum a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field
As our customers operate within fields that require security clearances, all employees of 4C Strategies need to be able to obtain a security clearance if required and have a valid Swedish work visa.
