The Swedish School of Textiles at the Faculty for Textiles, Engineering, and Business is a centre for competence development within the textile and fashion sectors. This is achieved through educational programmes at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels within the areas of artistic fashion and textile design as well as engineering, business, and management. Competence development is also the aim of research activities and close industry collaboration. University of Borås,The Swedish School of Textiles has a vacancy for aDoctoral student in Textile Technology, functional inkjet printingof antibacterial proteins /enzymes functional textiles.
Job description
The current research for this position in the research group Textile Materials Technology will focus on the use of antimicrobial proteins a, and enzymes for functional textiles as well as on resource textile effective processes like inkjet technology to produce these functional antibacterial textiles. An important challenge will be the development of functional inkjet inks.
At least 80 per cent of the doctoral studentship is devoted to research studies and dissertation work. The remaining time includes teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in relevant courses, supervision of theses, and participation in external projects and assignments.
Doctoral students are appointed under Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The study period will correspond to a maximum of four years of full-time studies. The initial period of employment lasts one year and is typically renewed one year at a time. Normally, 80 per cent of the time of the position is reserved for research and research studies within the doctoral programme at the department. The remaining 20 per cent of the time is spent on department duties, which shall consist of teaching and/or administration. In this manner, the doctoral studentship is extended to a total of five years.
Qualifications
The PhD student in smart textiles must have a MSc in engineering or science within chemistry, biotechnology, or textiles, or a similar, with a specific interest in physical chemistry (i.e. interface science, rheology). The MSc degree should have been earned in 2015 or 2016. Knowledge of minimal application technologies and development of inkjet inks for textiles is a plus. Applicants must have good skills in English (speech and writing).
