Product Strategy and Preparation is a team in Vehicle & European Manufacturing Engineering organization within GTO Quality & Engineering.
As the Director of Product Strategy and Preparation you will be responsible to initiate, drive, and coordinate all activities related to the Product Strategy globally for of GTO Cab and Vehicle. You will also have the direct responsibility to execute the Product Process development for Volvo products in Europe and will actively support the same activity for Renault, Volvo North America, and Mack. You will lead the development of efficient Product Process solutions, in close interaction both with GTT Engineering departments and with the plants. You will enhance the industrial performance and accelerate the transformation towards decarbonized products and sustainable operations. You will secure the competence growth and collaborate within value flows will all functions contributing to Product Process development.
Main activities and responsibilities
Our teams have the task to drive and coordinate all activities related to Architecture and Product strategy, globally for the areas of Cab and Vehicle assembly, and to execute the Product Process development for the Volvo Products in Europe and all shared components with Renault, Volvo North America, and Mack.
We optimize and prioritize all activities related to Product development in GTO, from the early Architecture definition to the implementation of the Manufacturing solutions in the plants and we secure successful introductions of Product modifications in the plants.
We lead the interaction with GTT Cab and Chassis Engineering departments, both for Classic and Electric vehicle, and represent GTO in cross functional development and technology teams.
We make sure that Product and Process activities are fully synchronized, and we secure the engagement in time of the technical preparation teams in France and US. We drive the interface with Manufacturing Engineering functions in the plants and primarily with Intro Engineering and Pilot plant representatives. We lead the Digital transformation for the technical preparation in GTO, enhance the use of AR/ VR in the cross functional development processes.
It is important to secure interfaces and WoW in an AGILE context related to GTT Technology and Vehicle Streams and support the implementation and evolvement of AGILE methods and WoW within the VEME organization. Focus should be to create a high performing culture and inspire, develop, and motivate employees and managers by developing further VPS in the area.
Experience and competence
As our preferred candidate you are a graduate engineer with broad knowledge of Product Process development. You are expected to have senior leadership experience (leading leader level) from a Manufacturing Engineering environment with broad understanding of Lean Production and AGILE methods.
You need to be very good in interpersonal relation capabilities at all levels of the organization. We expect you to have business mindset, show managerial courage and be able to meet people where they are, with ability to inspire and involve people to create engagement and a common view of working.
Proficiency in the English language is required.
