Position summary
The Digital and Internal Communications Officer plays a key role in implementing a communications programme to support the advancement of SIS. With responsibility for the School's digital channels, including the website and social media, the postholder will ensure that all platforms are of high quality, regularly updated and meeting the needs of SIS audiences.
Key areas of responsibility
Digital Channels
Oversight of the School website, ensuring content is up to date and meeting the needs of SIS audiences.
Identify new information requirements or opportunities for enhancing existing website content, working with colleagues across SIS to draft and publish content.
Develop an approach for updating website news and events feeds with regular content.
Ensure consistent quality in the personal online profiles created by SIS staff.
Manage the School intranet, MySIS, working with colleagues to develop content, supporting staff making updates and monitoring what is published to ensure it is current and correct.
Oversight of the SIS social media channels, effectively expanding their use as a means of communication for the School and ensuring quality control across all contributions from the Advancement team.
Maintain external digital listings about the School, including Wikipedia content and the Google Business page, reviewing and responding to comments and ensuring content is up to date.
Plan a regular programme of monitoring and research to monitor the success of all SIS digital channels, reporting on success metrics and seeking regular feedback from users on their experiences and information needs.
Ensure all website and social media content complies with SIS brand guidelines and digital best practice.
Keep up to date with digital best practice and new approaches, and promote best practice throughout the Advancement team and the entire school.
Internal and Community Communications
Lead communications planning in support of the customer journey of families as they consider international schools through to becoming part of the School community, including working with the Admissions team to plan a programme of messaging for new families.
Proactively seek out stories from across the school which will highlight the work of the school within the SIS community. Work closely with Advancement team colleagues and School Faculty to follow up and produce content, as assigned through the team content planning process.
Oversight of the School's electronic newsletters, including the regular Dispatch and new parent communications, ensuring content plans are created to ensure timely distribution and relevant content.
Produce original content and commission stories from Advancement colleagues and the wider School community.
Manage electronic newsletter subscription records in the school's CRM system, ensuring all school communications are distributed accurately and in a timely manner.
Manage the use of hallway bulletin boards and flat screen displays to ensure effective communication with specific constituencies.
Provide internal guidance to staff on preparation of notice board displays, flyers and other offline and online materials, ensuring compliance with SIS Style Guide.
Campaign Communications
Lead on campaign and communications planning for School initiatives where delegated by the Advancement Director (e.g. SIS 70th anniversary celebration).
Work with colleagues across the School to develop specific campaign activities to engage target audiences.
Develop communications and events programmes to achieve campaign objectives, utilising all Advancement channels to promote plans.
Monitor the success of campaigns utilising qualitative and quantitative feedback.
Brand implementation
Develop a strong understanding of the SIS Style Guide to ensure all outputs comply with the School brand approach.
Brief and work with creatives (e.g. graphic designers, photographers, editors) to deliver high quality materials for campaigns and online communications.
Oversight of photography in the School's official channels, managing regular staff photoshoots and occasional general School shoots.
Maintain and manage a well-catalogued photographic library for promotional use
In addition to the above areas of responsibility the position may require other reasonable duties relating to the scope of the position. The post holder will at times be required to work outside of normal office hours and/or weekends.
Qualifications and experience
Educated to degree level
Proven track-record of successfully working with communications, preferably within an educational setting
Experience managing a professional website using a content management system
Experience working with an organisational brand style
Very high level of written and spoken English is required, additional languages a plus
Storytelling
Experience of driving engagement on social media platforms
Experience using a CRM for distribution of communications
Willingness and ability to work on a number of simultaneous projects
International background or experience desirable

Contract
Temporary (one year cover) - 100 %
Starting - as soon as possible after 1 August 2021
Ending - 31 August 2022
