The Position
The DevSecOps Engineer will be a part of Technical Operations Center and will be responsible for the coordination of security initiatives across the Viaplay platform. You will be performing security engineering, building detective and preventive controls, developing systems to automate remediation and advise product and infrastructure teams on how to keep our platforms safe. Essentially, making sure security is built into the product during development and not applied at the final stage. We also believe that it is equally important that the role helps shape the culture regarding DevSecOps practices.
Our scalable platform offers high availability and is based on a container microservice architecture with Node.js and Java. We are hosted in AWS and are 100% cloud native. The daily work includes collaboration with Product & Engineering colleagues to make sure that NENTs security posture is rock solid.
The challenge ahead
• Shift-Left Mindset - develop a culture of inclusion and security awareness across the engineering teams
• Improve the platform following your findings after conducting security assessments and audits, architecture reviews and threat modeling of the application stack
• Proactively dive into existing code base to find chain of exploit and improve our overall security posture
• Ensure that security decisions become an integral part of the development lifecycle.
• Conduct penetration testing in collaboration with the Product & Engineering teams.
• Responsible for analyzing the best way to implement preventive controls and build tooling that are adopted across the engineering community.
• Assist and support engineers in developing secure systems contributing to the spread of secure patterns and practices
• Demonstrate excellent judgement in prioritizing security efforts to mitigate the appropriate risks
• Stay updated on security industry trends and topics and inform the organization about relevant concepts.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an energetic and people-positive person, that enjoys collaboration and demonstrate technical leadership in practice. You have a background as a developer and we believe that you are currently working as a Developer, DevSecOps, SysAdmin or similar. We see that you have experience in agile principles where you work with incremental improvements and quick iterations.
The ideal candidates has the following experience:
• Experience from Product or Platform Security, working closely with Product Engineers in designing and building platforms
• Hands-on developer experience with emphasis on tooling that helps facilitate security practices
• Experience in automating and integrating security operations into DevOps processes
• Strong communication skills and an ability to win both hearts & minds
• Experience of working in a fast moving, technology driven organization
