The department responsible for simulation of manufacturing processes is looking for an experienced engineer with documented theoretical knowledge of the numerical environment and how it relates to industrial needs.
Your main task will be to participate and/or lead research projects within the area to support our needs for current and future Manufacturing and Product Development programs. This means using FE software to simulate processes common in manufacturing of aerospace components, such as welding, heat treatment, metal forming, cutting, forging and casting. Mainly with the strongest focus on materials such as superalloys (Ni-base) and titanium alloys.
To achieve above you need to have strong interaction within the simulation group to obtain feedback from the manufacturing environment to understand the current challenges and future possibilities. Within Volvo Aero you will also work tightly coupled to material specialists as well as manufacturing method engineers to develop and improve our numerical tools to ultimately having them validated and deployed in our product development programs. Outside of Volvo you will interact with universities and/or industrial partners in research projects.
Qualifications:
MSc (Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Physics) or PhD
More than 5 years of experience of non-linear finite element simulations (MSC.Marc experience is valued)
Industrial experience of manufacturing, product development and/or research environment
Strong engagement to further develop the manufacturing simulation area
Positive attitude, excellent in co-operation and networking with high social skills
Ability to lead external partners and network
Ability to work to commitments and deliver accordingly
