We are now looking for an exceptional and experienced Developer to join our TV & Devices team. Opera is the market leader in providing browsers to Smart TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, set-top boxes and game consoles. The software is already used in tens of millions of consumer devices from leading vendors including Sony, Samsung, Philips, Toshiba, Sharp, Vestel and Ericsson. As more and more living-room devices become connected, this is a fast-moving and dynamic industry.
Opera is implementing features to enable TV specific use cases, such as HTML-based TV apps, device UI and HbbTV. As a developer on the TV team, you will be involved in all steps of the process, from requirements analysis to debugging. You will be working with some of the best engineers in the industry, in an international environment with colleagues and customers all over the world.
Responsibilities:
• Innovate, design, implement and deliver new features and product versions.
• Participate and contribute in all parts of the software development lifecycle.
Requirements:
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Very strong C++ skills
• Commitment to work in a highly dynamic environment
• Self-motivated personality, structured approach, quality-driven work ethic, with ability to take initiative
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Ideals:
• Experience working with embedded systems, in particular from the TV space
• Experience with development and debugging of complex, multi-process, high-performance applications and use of open source components
• Experience with Linux, Android and web technology
