Your role
The business unit Aviation Services within Saab is in a growth period which will require challenges in in order to meet our mission to deliver top products and support to our customers. We are therefore seeking a Deputy Department Manager within Flight Operations & Operational Training. The department has approx. 110 employees and is operating from various places in Sweden, though the main sites are in Linköping and Nyköping.
In your role you will lead and manage the daily operations, ensuring our flight activities run seamlessly while strictly adhering to regulatory requirements. This requires a close work with line managers, project leaders, and the Business Unit management team to meet both organizational and customer operational goals. You 'll play an important role by serve as the operational bridge between the overarching business strategy and on-the-ground implementation, driving improvements and process optimizations.
Key responsibilities:
* Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, coach, and empower a dedicated team of around 110 professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational success.
* Specialized Flight Operations: Oversee complex missions including aerial firefighting, target towing, electronic warfare, and test flights across our civil and special mission programs.
* Coordinate and plan test flight resources across our civil and special mission programs. This involves managing and allocating flight test resources to ensure efficient support of both civil and special mission projects, while balancing priorities and program needs.
* Training Management: Direct and enhance training programs for pilots, technicians, and mission crews to ensure operational readiness and excellence.
Your profile
We are seeking an experienced leader who thrives on operational. You possess strong analytical skills, practical experience in change and improvement and a passion for continuous improvement. You are a dynamic and communicative leader who fosters a collaborative and high-performing team environment. You are passionate about coaching and developing your team members, empowering them to reach their full potential.
You bring:
* Proven leadership experience with a strong track record of operational management and team development.
* Extensive knowledge of aviation authority requirements from EASA, SE-EMAR, and the Swedish Transport Agency, specifically related to flight operations and training.
* Experience in managing commercial contracts with the ability to interpret and meet customer operational needs.
* Fluency in both Swedish and English.
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
