Want to innovate to make life simpler?

At Volvo Cars, we're on a mission to make people's lives less complicated. We never start with technology and try to squeeze people in around it - we always design our cars around people, and we innovate to provide safe, sustainable and convenient mobility. Want to join us?

What we offer

Volvo Car Group has delivered premium automotive products and services since 1927. We are committed to be the most desired car brand, through the mission that all we do is with the customer in focus - "Designed around you; we understand you, we protect what is important to you and we make you feel special".

The Volvo Data Science and Artificial/Machine Learning organization is growing and we are now expanding the node covering Volvo Cars Corporate Quality. Our mission is to drive the Quality digital transformation forward by expanding our capabilities within Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
These key technologies will be used to further improve Quality, to enhance our vehicle quality, our services, and to improve our processes for development, business and manufacturing.

If you are a data scientist having hands on experience in algorithm development within signals and systems, specifically within real time applications, then this is a great opportunity for you!

What you will do

Today data are mainly analyzed in batch formats, however streaming data solutions are increasingly put in place within our organization. This will provide new challenges and opportunities for the Quality department.

Your main tasks will be centered on analyzing car logged data and develop solutions for our existing and future Predictive quality algorithms.

You need to effectively translate analytical findings into the language of decision makers; make findings available, supported by visual representation and communicate effectively on different levels. You will support ad-hoc complex investigations related to corporate strategic initiatives as well as mentoring colleagues with less data science experience.

In the team you will also have colleagues that perform analysis on a wide variety of data in order to achieve process improvement opportunities, to uncover trends, create and distribute various metrics, reports and dashboards.

You and your skills

You have a Master degree in Physics, Electronics, applied mathematics, statistics or other related area with relevant working experience. In general we are looking for someone who has at least 5 years of analytics experience from the industry and have a statistic knowledge for solving engineering challenges.

You have knowledge from control engineering and algorithm development, as well as programming competence with R and/or Python.

It is beneficial if you have experience with analysing and manipulating a wide range of data and analysing big data. It is a plus if you have experience in analysing car logged data.

On a personal level you are a doer, who enjoys getting things done. You have a scientific mind-set, used to be creative and see problems from different angles to provide the best solution by help of a combination of mathematical rigor and innovative algorithm design. It is in your nature to be curious, and eager to continuously learn new things.
You have common sense for the right level of granularity in every case, and focus on the important conditions.
