Truecaller is available on the web and as an app for the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian S60, Series 40 and Windows Phone.
Truecaller has 36 million users and over a billion numbers (ytd November 2013), and our database is growing with 100 000 + users every day. This means an enormous amount of data to process, organize, analyze and interpret and this is where you come into the picture. As our very own Data Scientist you will be a key player in shaping our business, helping us making the most of our data in order to enhance our way of working, our business model as well as our customer experience.
You will work in close collaboration with both our product and engineering team as well with our commercial team to identify and follow up on metrics, evaluate A/B tests and user behavior and identify product insights. You will both work independently and proactively with identifying improvement opportunities as well as being involved in separate projects. You will act as an advisor for our Product Steering Group and Management Team and play a key role in influencing our decision making by asking the right questions, pin-point the right problems and high-light the right data. You will be reporting to our Chief Strategy Officer.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a Data Scientist responsible for:
• Collecting, organizing and analyzing and interpreting all data and drawing insightful conclusions from it that enables us to work in a smarter way
• Create visual interpretations from data and explain graphs and charts with insightful notes and summaries
• Analyzing customer data and assist product development in finding new innovative ways of presenting and making use of data
• Support our management team in identifying, measure and follow up on key metrics
• Providing regular accurate and comprehensive statistical reports
• Design end to end data mining solutions to support our business initiatives
• Providing objective insight and analysis to influence decision making
• Constantly asking the right but difficult questions on why, what and how and also help us answering those questions
• Ensuring quality of data and actively working on cleaning data to make sure of top notch relevancy and accuracy
• Actively keep up to date on external market and data research and work towards adding data points from external sources to our own data in order to create a value added analysis
What we want you to have
• Familiarity with database modeling and data warehousing principles with a working knowledge of SQL
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in computer science, data mining, machine learning, statistics, math, engineering, operations Research, or other quantitative discipline
• Extensive experience with analytical and quantitative problem solving
• Experience with analysis tools, open source or commercially available libraries and toolsets
• Excellent communication skills in English, in speaking and writing ( Swedish language skills is not required as our official company language is English)
• Great attention to detail and analytical skills
• A passion for numbers, data and finding patterns
• Ability to excel with challenging tasks with a calm and positive attitude
What would be nice if you have
• Working knowledge of data mining algorithms including decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, regression, and neural networks
• Experience with large datasets and map-reduce architectures like Hadoop and open source data mining and machine learning projects -
• Familiarity with Big Data tools and techniques, including MapReduce, NoSQL stores, and unbounded stream processing
• Experience from working with mobile applications and big data is a great advantage
• Programming knowledge in at least one language in addition to SQL
• Global / multi-national experience
