The National Museums of World Culture consist of the Museum of Ethnography, The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities and the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm, as well as the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg. With collections spanning several thousand years and every continent on Earth, the Museums of World Culture can provide perspective and an increased understanding of who we are, where we come from and the world we want to create together. Currently about 150 staff work to showcase and bring to life the world's cultures and provide perspectives on an increasingly globalized world in a historic and contemporary context. Our core activities are organized in the sections of Collection, Content and Learning and Visitor Experience. Each department has the public on focus and collaborates closely with other departments. Our overall goal is being relevant to more people, and we are now looking for a person with the knowledge, curiosity and warmth needed to contribute to moving the organization forward.

• We are currently looking for a Curator with focus on globalization at our department for Content and Learning. Your mission is to document and develop new knowledge based on historical and contemporary cross-cutting issues, using the collection managed by the Museums of World Culture as point of departure. You will do this in close collaboration with other curatorial colleagues at the agency. Based on the tradition of scientific knowledge, you contribute to the activation of the material. You are open to dialogue and have a strong understanding of the public mission of museums. You have the ability to communicate knowledge adapted to the needs of different target groups and to different physical and digital platforms. You have a broad international network and contribute to the development of new methods and approaches and create even greater relevance for visitors and users.
The work of the Curator with focus on globalization includes:
• contributing to the knowledge base that promotes lifelong learning in exhibitions and other public activities.
• promoting and enriching the public debate in the field of the Agency's activities through dialogue and collaboration with various stakeholders.
• developing knowledge about the collection and the issues it may generate, based on current research findings and in dialogue with the outside world.
• initiating and participating in strategic applications for research and digitisation projects and other external funding in accordance with the Authority's priorities.
• continuously and systematically quality-assuring and updating the Authority's collection database with current data and knowledge.
• assisting, as appropriate, in return cases and ethical matters.
• responding to enquiries from the public, researchers and the press in various subject areas.
KvalifikationerQualifications
The position requires
• A Ph.D. Level degree or equivalent in the humanities, social sciences or any other field deemed relevant by the employer.
• proven knowledge and experience in providing perspectives on contemporary global issues.
• experience of interacting with the research community in interdisciplinary projects/activities.
• experience in initiating, developing and managing different types of projects.
• very good written and spoken English language skills and good written and spoken Swedish language skills.
The following would be an asset to the post
• experience in communicating and delivering content to different audiences and in different digital channels.
• knowledge of and experience in working with material culture, endangered cultural heritage, provenance and/or repatriation/return.
• language skills in addition to Swedish and English.
• a broad international network.

Heltid. Dagtid. Tillsvidareanställning, tillträde: 2022-05-01 or by agreement. A probationary period will apply. The position is based in Stockholm; some work should be expected in both locations. Individual setting of wage rates.
