hela Sverige Product Manager with mechanical engineering skills to well-known design studio
Humans since 1982 are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Product Manager to lead current and new product developments. You would be working with us to perfect our current projects and bring new innovations to the market. This position will see you working on products from concept to production, with a constant drive to push boundaries through cutting edge technologies in order to create lasting design classics. The role also involves exciting travel opportunities.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the product lifecycle - from prototyping and product development to manufacturing, logistics and support. This is an opportunity to be involved in the entire product development process at an exciting and fast moving creative company. We aim to continuously bring new innovative design products to the market. Leading the product development you will work with external consultants on supply chain, the design team to ensure the vision of the product, define and communicate all necessary features to the technology team and implement these without sacrificing quality.
Along with your degree and thorough working experience in Mechanical Engineering, you will have excellent knowledge and experience of consumer product development and agile methodologies. Further, it is important that you have a good knowledge of manufacturing.
Work Description
In this highly immersive role, you will:
• Drive detailed part and assembly design and documentation
• Implement design that responds to the original product vision for ID, user experience & cost targets
• Support implementation of ERP and PLM systems in our process
• Conduct early DOE studies and present conclusions to support design
• Undertake hands on prototype fabrication
• Support our overseas mfg. operations through rapid problem solving and process refinement
• Perform root cause analysis studies and corrective action plan implementation
• Work with consultants & suppliers to define and refine tooling and fixtures
• Travel overseas to support manufacturing & mechanical engineering efforts
• Interact efficiently with team members and manage external vendors.
• Efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the hardware team dynamic.
Key Qualifications
• 5 years' experience in development of consumer electronic products in a high volume production environment.
• Detail driven, with an eye for quality and perfection.
• Strong knowledge of electronics and software.
• DFx (Manufacturing, test, assembly) experience & competency.
• Experience with tactile mechanical/electromechanical design.
• Highly proficient in SolidWorks 2D/3D CAD.
• History of developing & maintaining detailed engineering documentation.
• Hold a broad range of materials and process knowledge: plastic injection/compression molding, metal machining, designing with metals.
• Comfortable designing with polymers, sheet metal design, material finishing and cosmetic treatments.
• Familiarity with all rapid prototyping technologies and the tradeoffs of each (depending on application).
• Hands on experience of CNC machining & 3D printing preferred.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes with Far East suppliers.
• Work efficiently under high level of pressure and demanding time lines.
• Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills.
