Livelihood Awards, sometimes called the 'Alternative Nobel Prizes', to
celebrate and support people and organisations who provide practical
solutions to urgent global challenges. The Recipients give hope for
tomorrow, for a world in peace and balance. They demonstrate how we
can overcome oppression, war, poverty, and the destruction of our
environment. Founded in 1980, the Right Livelihood Award Foundation is
a charity registered in Sweden.
To supplement its team, consisting of the Executive Director, the Office
Manager, the communications freelancer and one or two interns, the
foundation is looking for a fulltime
Job responsibilities
Working as our Communications Assistant, you support our team, primarily
in the areas of contact management and communications. In the area of
contact management, you will be responsible for our database and other
address lists; for scheduling and planning of trips and meetings; for the
handling of guest lists, especially for the annual award ceremony; and for
the processing of incoming general correspondence and calls. In the area of
communications, you will be responsible for our daily online press
monitoring; you will support the updating of our website and Facebook
page; and you will provide general communications support. In addition, you
will be expected to provide some general office support, e.g. in the areas of
IT, supply and machine maintenance, and basic accounting.
Job requirements and qualifications
You are a good communicator – open, honest and proactive – who enjoys
the contact with other people and feels a strong dedication to the causes
supported by the Right Livelihood Award. You are prepared to work for an
NGO-range salary if your job is meaningful and fulfilling.
The ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines and to work
independently as well as as part of a team are some of your strongest
attributes. You communicate excellently in English; other languages –
especially Swedish and German – would be helpful. You have good
knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. You are familiar with – or easily
able to acquaint yourself with – database applications, standard web
publishing (Typo 3) and standard Macintosh OSX programmes. A high level
of self-motivation and initiative and the ability to put things into practice in
an efficient and effective manner are accompanied by your superior attention
to detail and accuracy. You are able to offer certain flexibility regarding your
working time as your workload will be higher in autumn than in spring.
Your excellent social skills, combined with integrity and discretion, complete
your profile.
Terms
• Full time, one-year contract, which may become a permanent position.
• Salary range 17,500-20,000 SEK
