Commodity/Product Buyer

The Exterior Purchasing department Body & Stamping sources new car programs, advanced engineering projects and cost optimise running production for all of Volvo Car Group's manufacturing plants. The scope of buying is within the areas: hot formed steel, cold formed stampings, die-casting, extrusions, roll forming, welded assembly, intercompany production and heat shields. The team is responsible for sourcing, develop the supply base and commodity strategy as well as negotiate pricing with the objective to cost optimise.

We are now looking for a Commodity/Product Buyer as a permanent member of the Body & Stampings Team, since one of the employees will take on a new position within the organisation. As a Commodity/Product Buyer, you will work in close collaboration with both Commodity and Product Buyers in our team. Your main responsibilities will be sourcing activities, negotiate and establish agreements, Issue Purchase Orders as well as other administration and have frequent supplier contacts on a daily business level.

Main responsibilities

• Lead yearly commercial negotiations with the objective to reduce cost and price for the area
• Lead raw material negotiations for the area
• Responsible to develop sourcing strategies and Commodity Business Plans within the area with the objective to optimise cost
• Carry out market test analysis and benchmarking studies
• Actively lead sourcing activities to ensure implementation of strategy and to achieve full global leverage on current production price reduction
• Drive resolution and establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
• Negotiate commercial and time consequences at suppliers connected to design changes in vehicle projects and establish agreements
• Participate in cross functional teams within Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing
• Drive continuous improvement activities within purchasing and suppliers
• Work toward individual targets

Required qualifications

• University degree in business, engineering or equivalent work experience
• Purchasing experience from the automotive industry or other equivalent industry
• Good overall administration skills are needed including good knowledge in excel and power point
• Fluent in English
• Driver's license B
• International experience is meritorious
