Service Market Logistics (SML) is part of Group Trucks Operations. We are an organization of approximately 3,700 employees globally in more than 40 locations. Commercial Packaging is a department within Service Market Logistics in GTO with responsibility for managing cost efficient and harmonized commercial packaging solutions that drive brand image, sales and customer satisfaction for all Volvo Group brands. We are a global department represented in all the geographical regions. We are now setting a new organization and establishing a completely new way of working within our function.

As a Commercial Packaging Engineer you will be working in a team responsible for taking global commercial packaging decision for the different Volvo Group Brands, for both new parts in product project and for existing legacy parts. You will work closely with product development, purchasing, sales organizations and warehouse operations when taking your commercial packaging decision. The daily tasks require frequent contact with suppliers and colleagues and usage/updates of multiple MS office and Volvo applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Decide upon global commercial packaging solutions fulfilling Volvo Group branding, environmental, quality and commercial requirements for spare parts
• Optimize commercial packaging cost in the total supply chain
• As participant in product projects, responsible for ensuring commercial packaging decisions in the early phases
• Support suppliers and other stakeholders with know-how regarding commercial packaging
• Take actions on feedback from stakeholders and adapt commercial packaging solutions, to continuously improve cost, quality and create value for our customers
• Develop new packaging materials and new packaging solutions
• Actively work with continuous improvements utilizing Volvo Production System, to reduce packaging cost, improve quality, increase customer satisfaction and improve processes, tools and work methods
• Monitor PI's and take appropriate actions to meet targets
• Define cost targets for implementing commercial packaging by parts suppliers to safeguard positive impact on total cost
• Support the Volvo Group purchasing organizations in negotiations regarding commercial packaging cost

Qualifications
• University degree in mechanical/industrial/packaging engineering or similar work experience
• Experience from working with packaging operations, design or development
• Experienced in using different IT tools i.e. MS Office, CAD drawing tools (e.g. CreoView), Volvo internal applications (GPS, GLOPPS, RAPID etc)
• Service market knowledge
• Knowledge in Volvo Group processes
• Understanding and usage of logistics cost models
• Self-motivated, take initiative to improve processes and procedures
• Strong collaboration skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in English language
Volvo Group Trucks Operations encompasses all production of the Group's engines and transmissions, as well as all production of Volvo, Renault and Mack trucks. The organization is responsible for spare parts supplies to the Group 's customers as well as for designing, operating and optimizing logistics and supply chain for all brands, production facilities and distribution centers where the Volvo Group operates.
