announces a vacancy for the position of
Class/SEN Teacher, Part-time 20-50%
The English School has grown rapidly since it opened in 2000 and has a current population of 75 students. Situated in Älmhult in southern Sweden it is a state school with support from Ikea of Sweden for the teacher's professional development. The local area, which has a population of approx. 15 000, is peaceful and situated in an attractive area with nearby lakes and forests. The provincial town of Växjö is easily reached by either rail or road, as are other large cities in the region and the Continent.
The school was authorised for The International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme in May 2003 and for The Middle Years Programme in May 2009. The school is international and has a friendly atmosphere. The classes are small and all teaching is in English.
The position of Class teacher in the Primary Years Programme is now available for the coming school year, 20% is substituting for a member of staff on maternity leave. We are looking for an energetic, positive staff member who has English as a native language to join our highly dedicated and enthusiastic international team on August 10th.
The position may be shared/combined with more hours in the Middle Years for qualified teachers of SEN, Languages, P.E. Humanities, Sciences or Maths and depending on qualifications.
Professional qualifications
• A fully qualified Primary School teacher with the teaching of reading and writing in English is a requirement. A qualification as an SEN teacher is a strong merit.
• Experience of teaching in the primary years is a strong merit and English as a native language a requirement.
• Experience/ training in the IBO's PYP is a merit and an interest to teach according to the programme essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required as the position involves working in a team.
Terms of contract:
The position is part-time and temporary working in the Primary Years Programme and starting on August 10th 2009.
Salary:
Monthly. Individual salary rate.
