As the Backend Engineering Manager you will ensure that we have the right people, working on the right things, using the right tools and processes to deliver value to our users. Our teams are coordinating over several technical platforms across iOS, Android, .Net and Web.
Our mobile apps have more than 10M downloads across App Store and Play Store, and our website is visited by almost a million unique visitors every month. Our services easily support these kinds of loads given the considerations that have gone into load balancing, distributed networks and high availability. We build for scale and for a global audience, making ours a setup that offers exciting challenges and a chance to work with cutting edge technologies.
Areas of ownership:
Provide leadership over core engineering tasks on a daily basisAlign your team's technical strategy with the short and long-term visions of the business
Interface with the product team and coordinate the rest of the engineering org to translate product needs into deliverables
Help us retain, develop and attract top engineering talent
Have a keen interest in architecture: how to build complex applications that are maintainable
Maintain an overview of architectural decisions. You will discuss technical solutions with the rest of the team and institute measures to keep the code base clean
Staying interested in problem solving and enjoy finding the simplest possible solution to complex problems
Requirements:
You are an excellent communicator and collaborator. We work in English, but you will hear many languages in our Stockholm office
Experience building and leading software development teams
You have developer experience in either backend or full-stack and have a solid understanding in other areas
Sound knowledge in Agile development methodologies
Experience with Development lifecycle tools and processes (Github, Jira, Confluence)
Experience in a high-volume environment or products with millions of users
Ability to adapt and respond to rapidly evolving product needs
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
It's a plus if you've worked with GraphQL and are comfortable applying established best practices and standards in production environments.
It's a plus if you've collaborated within larger, cross-functional teams on established products serving a broad user base.
It's a plus if you've built new products with a strong focus on clean architecture, long-term maintainability, and scalability.
It's a plus if you have experience in industries such as payment platforms, FinTech, or telecommunications.
