You will be part of the automation research and development team in ABB Marine & Ports in Västerås and will contribute as Automation Software Engineer developing our base standard for Ship-To-Shore and Automated Stacking Cranes.
In this important role, you will actively work with implementation of automation solutions, crane control and sensor systems.
This position reports to
Manager for Motion Control & Sensor department
Your responsibilities
Developing systems and solutions for crane automation in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
Working on both regular as well as safety related functionality.
Developing software architecture documentation for developed solutions.
Expanding your knowledge base of customer needs and technological developments in software engineering and automation.
Pursuing new ideas for technological innovation and sharing expertise in team meetings and technical reports.
Your background
A Masters' degree in Control Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Mechatronics or similar.
Basic understanding of control theory.
Competency in relevant programming languages 1131-3 Structured Text, Matlab, Python.
Open to travel globally and support projects introducing new functions.
A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies.
A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
Positive and proactive mindset and the ability to create a good atmosphere.
English required, Swedish not mandatory but beneficial.
