We seek a highly motivated Associate Principal Scientist to join the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) & Transcriptomics team within the Translational Genomics Department of our Discovery Sciences R&D organization in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will apply proven single-cell sequencing technology expertise (including transcriptomics, genomics, epigenetics) to drug discovery research projects that will enrich our understanding of drug pharmacology, target mechanisms, model systems, patients and disease.

This is a rare opportunity to join the Translational Genomics Department within our Global Discovery Sciences function, where we apply cutting edge NGS/transcriptomic technologies, Precise genome editing in vitro and in vivo functional genomics model systems and cell therapy expertise to the discovery and development of novel therapies. What you will do:
This role for a single cell specialist in the NGS area, is a hands-on lab-based role with a focus on effective delivery, troubleshooting and putting ideas into action. The Associate Principal Scientist provides support, supervision and mentorship to scientists, ensuring that methods run expertly and correctly, developing and guiding the set-up of new techniques.

You will build strong collaborative relationships with the project investigators, key stakeholders, project bioinformaticians and data scientists to ensure the smooth running of projects. As well as have an overall knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry in the global context and ability to translate this into new business opportunities.

We will trust on you to:

* Have recognized expertise within the single-cell sequencing technology field, and will function as a scientific specialist within the team.
* Have significant broader expertise within the NGS/Transcriptomics field and experience in applying this to scientific projects.
* Apply cutting edge single cell technologies and methodologies to consolidate our comprehensive platform of single cell approaches and complimentary bulk and spatial NGS capabilities.
* Build the strategy for the ongoing development of our single cell platforms including exploring new technologies, single cell analytes, assay miniaturization, process automation and functional supervision of future hires.

Essential in the role:

* Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific field
* At least 3 years hands on expertise of applying/developing single cell sequencing technologies, preferably with multiple platforms (e.g. plate, droplet and chip) and modalities (e.g. transcriptomics, genomics, genetics, cell-surface proteins).
* At least 5 years hands on expertise with a broad range of Next Generation Sequencing /Transcriptomics technologies that can include HT-qPCR, RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq, epigenetic methods, spatial and long read technologies.
* Experience in one or more of the following areas - novel method development, assay miniaturization, liquid handling/automation.
* This experience will cover all relevant aspects from hypothesis generation, through experimental design and execution, sample and library preparation, sequencing, data handling, post sequencing QC and trouble shooting.
* Strong evidence of experimental impact through a track record of High-Impact and High-Quality publications, internal and external presentations.
* Several years of relevant experience in drug discovery and/or early development or in a leading academic institution.
