WORK TASKS
JIBS is recruiting an assistant professor in statistics. The holder of the position will be a part of the discipline of statistics at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS). The discipline of statistics at JIBS has a strong focus on econometrics. The work tasks of the position include e.g. teaching, research, and participation in various relevant university activities which are related to this job position. The holder of the position will conduct research that is either financed through JIBS? internal funding (depending on JIBS? internal allocation of resources for research), or by external funding. Teaching is performed in English and Swedish. As a colleague at JIBS, the holder of the position is expected to contribute to the development of JIBS and the strengthening of JIBS? reputation in its focus areas: Entrepreneurship, Ownership and Renewal. All JIBS faculty members are expected to contribute to improve the footprint of JIBS in the broader society.
The following qualifications are mandatory:
• Doctoral degree in statistics.
• Proven experience of teaching in statistics amounting to at least one year full-time teaching.
• Pedagogical education or equivalent, as well as evidence of pedagogical skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and proven ability to teach and examine courses using English at the university level.
• Fluency in written and spoken Swedish and proven ability to teach and examine courses using Swedish at the university level.
The following qualities are considered as merits that are highly valued for the position:
• Scientific merits in the field of statistics, mainly within econometrics. Thus, merits within the area of econometrics are important for this position. The applicant?s research progress in relation to his or her available research time may be applied as a proxy for effectiveness, efficiency and future potential of the applicant.
• Statistical programming skills.
• Skills and experiences of collaborations with other teachers/researchers.
• Experience from multidisciplinary collaboration and/or research background in business administration or in economics are important since the statisticians/econometricians at JIBS collaborate with researchers from these disciplines.
• Experience in writing research grant applications, in collaborating internationally in research, and in collaborating and interacting with private, public and voluntary sector organizations.
