About 1,000 people work at our state of the art R&D facility in Lund where efforts are focused on development of new medicines for treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). For instance Pulmicort?, Oxis?and Symbicort? were all developed here as well as the inhalation device, Turbuhaler?.
The core purpose of global Pharmaceutical and Analytical R&D (PARD) is to contribute to the development of AZ new product portfolio through delivery of products for pre-clinical and clinical studies as well as commercial products. This means close collaboration with our global discovery, clinical and operations functions.
Early Development is a global organisation within PAR&D that contributes in the selection process of new chemical entities and performs relevant evaluations of drug substances and formulations in early safety and clinical phases.

The Role
As an Analytical Scientist within Early Development you will be involved in the cross functional collaboration between discovery and clinical development in the drug development process.
Your main contribution will be to:
• Provide analytical support to projects with the overall aim to assess drug substance and formulation properties and suitability for further development
• Work as an integral part of a diverse and multi competence team responsible for project delivery
• Maintain an up-to-date scientific knowledge within the area of analytical chemistry
You will be a member of a team consisting of 7-8 scientists, placed in Lund and you will report to the Team Manager
Minimum Requirements:
• BSc or MSc in analytical chemistry or other relevant academic degree combined with experience within analytical chemistry
• Good communication skills
• Excellent team working skills
Preferred Requirements
• Previous pharmaceutical industry work experience is considered to be an advantage
