Specific subject description
Teaching and research within the discipline of History are concerned with social development, organisation and change, and are wide-ranging as regards subject matter and chronology.
Job assignments
Applicants must have a broad knowledge of history as the position of Senior Lecturer involves teaching different types of courses at the undergraduate level. The position also includes research, the supervision of student theses, administrative tasks, and interaction with the wider community. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute actively to the running of the department. As women are currently underrepresented among the Department's history teachers, we especially encourage qualified women to apply.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree and have relevant teaching experience or equivalent qualifications.
Assessment
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
In the assessment of the applicants, equal importance will be given to research and teaching skills. Administrative skills and the ability to cooperate with the wider community will also be considered.

Applications must include the following: an attested list of qualifications, a brief written account of the applicant's experience of research, teaching, and student supervision, and a list of the scientific and pedagogical publications he/she would like to have evaluated. Documentation of pedagogical qualifications should include qualitative assess-ments from the head of the department or other supervisory staff. Applicants must submit two copies of up to ten scientific and pedagogical publications in addition to the doctoral thesis. These should be separated into two sets.
