Research and graduate education at the department of chemistry and molecular biology comprises a wide scientific field from the atomic and molecular levels all the way through cells to intact organisms. Much of the phenomena studied here impact on our natural environment and living systems. We participate in undergraduate programs in chemistry, molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, biology, marine sciences, and pharmacy.
Information about research group: Westenhoff's research team works to resolve structural dynamics of proteins and chemical reactions. We use femtosecond spectroscopy, time-resolved x-ray scattering and time-resolved crystallography. This position is financed by Westenhoffs ERC projekt MolStructDyn.
Job assignments
• Experimental and theoretical investigations of time-resolved X-ray scattering of chemical reactions at XFEL facilities.
• Development of fluctuation-based methods
• Work within projects and with experiments in collaboration with Prof. Westenhoff within the framework of his ERC grant MolStructDyn
• Close collaboration with Westenhoff's research group, especially with members, which work in the same or similar projects.
• Supervision of PhD students and other group members.
Qualifications
To qualify as a principle research engineer, the applicant must have completed a Swedish doctoral degree or must have a foreign degree corresponding to a Swedish doctoral degree.
We are looking for a person who has expertise to carry out the tasks listed above. We are looking for a person who has the ability to work independently in physico-chemical projects and who has documented experience with carrying out and leading projects at free-electron laser facilities. Experience in analyzing time-resolved X-ray scattering data is a merit.
