SummaryGreenpeace Nordic is looking for a person to temporary take on the role as the Volunteer Coordinator in Sweden. The position is based in Stockholm and the Volunteer Coordinator will report to Greenpeace Nordic's Volunteer Unit Head.
The Volunteer Coordinator position is embedded in the Greenpeace office and campaign programme in Sweden, as well as in Greenpeace Nordic's Volunteer Unit, which is responsible for managing and developing Greenpeace Nordic's volunteering programme in DK, FI, NO and SE. Working languages for Volunteer Coordinators in Greenpeace Sweden are Swedish and English.
The position is a 50% temporary position, which starts mid March 2018 and ends December 31st 2018.
Main tasks and responsibilitiesManaging, developing and growing Greenpeace's volunteer network in Sweden (currently approx. 200 volunteers organized in three local groups)
Training and coaching of individual volunteers and volunteer groups
Develop and implement open offline engagement projects in Greenpeace's campaigns, which invite and enable not only volunteers but all interested people to contribute
Connecting the volunteer network to Greenpeace's campaigns by co-creating campaign entry-points and engagement projects for and with volunteers
Create written resources for supporters, volunteers and volunteer groups such as campaign flyers, handbooks, presentations etc. in English.
Co-organize and host 2-3 day trainings and meetings for 15 to 50 people
Organize and host online trainings (video calls) for large groups
Contributing to the wider development of Greenpeace Nordic's volunteering programme in close cooperation with Nordic Volunteer Unit colleagues
Providing practical, hands on logistical support for Greenpeace events and actions incl. field work
Work with the Actions Unit to continue to build a sufficiently large and well trained base of motivated activists.
Operate and develop Greenpeace Nordic's organising online platform Greenwire.
ProfileRequired personal skills and characteristicsCommitment to environment and peace, and a profound identification with the values of Greenpeace (non-violent direct action, independence, international outlook, diversity and inclusion), as well as with the organisation's mission
Preparedness to support activists who exercise civil disobedience and take non-violent direct action
Ability to securely manage multiple tasks and to stay calm in busy times
Availability and flexibility to work outside regular working hours, including evenings and weekends
Availability for domestic and international travel (days)
Strong commitment towards engaging volunteers of all different walks of life
Strong social and team working skills
Knowledge & SkillsFluency in spoken and written Swedish and English language
Strong facilitation skills to lead co-creational group processes and inspiring meetings
Strong conversational and written communication skills for internal and external communications
Good knowledge of using common social media platforms
An understanding of creating change through campaigning
Good project management skills to deliver projects
Profound understanding of the mechanics of successful volunteer engagement
Good knowledge of using Microsoft Office applications of equivalents
ExperienceExperience in managing volunteers
Experience in developing and delivering trainings and facilitating meetings
Experience in engaging in or managing an online community / managing volunteers in an online environment
Experience in working in a campaigning environment or political context is considered to be a strong plus
