The development unit is located in Stockholm. Production is done in India.
Test Engineer
Northlight AB has a position open for a test engineer for development and support of fibre optical test systems for tele-transmission components.
You have an MSc degree in Photonics or equivalent, and have 3-5 years relevant work-experience and ability to independently carry out technical development tasks and production process changes. You are able to design and build test systems starting from general directives and you have a good knowledge in English, written as well as oral, since most of the work is performed in an English speaking environment.
The following qualifications are required for the position:
• Theoretical knowledge in tele-transmission
• General knowledge of how fibre optical components like e.g. transmitters and receivers and fibres are constructed and how they are characterized.
• Practical experience from DC and high frequency testing and evaluation of fibre optical components for tele-transmission systems, preferably with a specific expertise in testing of die level and assembled laser- and photo diode chips.
• Detailed knowledge regarding the hardware and software, e.g. Delphi, required for building automated fibre optical test systems, and practical experience from design and modification of such systems.
• Knowledge in microwave transmission techniques
• Knowledge of Oracle or similar database programmes
• Knowledge regarding electrical and optical properties of semiconductor lasers and detectors, and an understanding of the structure and physics of those components.
Experience from working with contract manufacturers and production outsourcing in the Far-East is a merit. Good social skills and an awareness of and respect for the problems which may occur in a multi-cultural environment are necessary, since there will be frequent contacts with contract manufacturers, suppliers and customers in various countries.
