About the position
SSAB Special Steels is replacing its Technical development manager for Tech Support, West and Central Africa. We are now looking for a new team player to be part of our professional International team.
We have an extensive steel grade portfolio that can support a diverse customer base. Technical Development Manager within the Technical Support function has the responsibility of providing technical knowledge to our customers and sales managers in the assigned geographical region.
This role is reactive to solving problems and also proactive to new business opportunities and product improvements. Duties generally derive from technical responsibilities related to customer engagement, project management, opportunity development and product innovation. For example, SSAB steel grades can increase effectiveness in the workshops or performance of the end product and therefore increasing the competitive advantage for the end-user.

Your qualifications
We expect you to have experience and strong drive to work in steel business and a genuine interest to learn more about steel making, properties and user benefits. You have graduated as M.Sc. in Technology (Mechanical, Metallurgical or Mining Engineering) from any University in Europe and have working experience of approximately at least 5 years in similar fields. Experience in the Mining Industry is highly appreciated.
A high competence in English and French languages is expected and being comfortable in delivering presentations to internal colleagues and customers. Other languages like Arabic, Portuguese, local African languages will be counted as benefit.
As a person you fit for safely traveling in countries in the Central and Western region of Africa. Covering and understanding cultural behaviors'. You are expected to spend up to 50% of time traveling for business.
