The rapid growth of electrically driven and electronically controlled systems in all types of vehicles creates an increasing need for challenging research and development. We perform Mechatronics and Software R&D activities in order to secure key properties like safety, energy efficiency and reliability of products from the Volvo Group and other selected customers. Our dedicated engineers cover a wide range of multidisciplinary engineering sciences.
We have an open position as systems engineer.
Job description
We consider the field of systems engineering as a key competence and you will do research on model based development and its use in the area of systems engineering. Some of the international research projects that we currently participate in are MAENAD, CESAR, and TIMMO-2-USE.
As a part of our group you will participate in and lead work packages in international research projects, where you will act as an expert on the needs from the Volvo group. You may also participate in advanced engineering projects and development projects within the Volvo group where you will gain experience on the needs from the Volvo group.
Due to a growing interest in secure and dependable systems the position would include analyzing the dependability of embedded systems. Dependability in this context is seen as the ability of a system to deliver a service that can be trusted to uphold its functionality to a high degree even in the event of faults occurring.
We are looking for a systems engineer who is open minded and has a positive attitude.
Task descriptions
Participate in international research projects on model based development where concepts from e.g. EAST-ADL and AUTOSAR are refined
Provide technical expertise in dependable systems and safety standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 26262
Participate in advanced engineering projects where technologies and concepts are developed
Participate in development projects to apply your expertise in systems engineering and dependability analysis
Qualifications
University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar
Extensive knowledge about dependability and fault tolerance
Strong analytical skills
Ability to apply systems engineering principles
General knowledge of software and/or hardware design
Good comprehensive understanding of embedded software and HW development
The job is dependent of a good network within and outside the company; therefore your ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain such networks in different areas in a global multi-cultural environment is essential
Sense of responsibility and urge to disseminate results within the Volvo group
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
The candidate we are looking for is likely to have:
Research background and degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar
Experience in system development and modeling of embedded real-time systems
Experience of working with distributed systems
Knowledge of data bus communications in distributed systems
Experience from the automotive industry
