In Volvo Cars internally we are now looking for a System responsible within Door structure.
Who we are
Our Section, Closures, consist of four groups (Door mechanics, Door structure, Rear-opening system and Sealing system). As System Responsible for side door structure you are responsible for the technical contents from side door structure in a specific. Since we both have in-house design and supplier designed components, the network is very broad. The teams are cross functional with other R&D departments, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, suppliers etc. This means that you will develop your network and broaden your knowledge about in-house design and in cooperation with suppliers learn about mechanical and mechatronic systems.

We are looking for you
We are looking for you who like to work in a team with a close cooperation and team spirit. As a leader and a team player we need a person with a positive attitude who likes to be proactive and has the courage to take the initiative instead of waiting for instructions. Since you will be coaching colleagues such as GDL and CAD engineers, you have experience and passion for leadership. You feel confident in talking one to one but also in larger fora's. To be successful in this position you need a technical background, experience from in-house engineering as well as understanding of the product development process. You also like to drive and use cars and are eager to understand how our customers use and experience them.
What you will do
As an SA you will be a member of the door team. We work in close cooperation within the team but also with our network to ensure that the entire section is involved in our common deliveries. You will work in an environment that is prestigeless in order to focus on what 's best for the team 's components and systems.
You main responsibilities will be to manage door structure and work in early phase of programs and advanced engineering to set the concepts for different car projects:
-Take the lead in advanced engineering and prepare the future technologies
-Coach the team toward optimal solutions in projects
-Work with projects in the early phases and set up the concepts define the cost targets
- Annual work with CBP
-Taking part in optimizing and balancing of requirement fulfilment on system level of responsibility
-scalability for door system area within architecture(s)
Some of other typical tasks will be requirement and function analysis, gap analysis relative to current design, benchmarking, concept generation, functional, geometry and non-geometry based, concept evaluation by judgment, calculation or testing, as well as development and optimization of decision alternatives including technology, time and cost and also documentation of decided concept including final requirements/performance, technical solution and decision.
The SA also has the ability and the responsibility to by himself / herself develop conceptual proposals, within and across the responsibility areas of the development units, to challenge, initiate, speed up and improve the concept development.
You and your skills
We believe you carry a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent. You have at least 5 years of working experience, preferably some of them with design of sheet metal parts (body structure, doors).
