The Active Safety department has been one of the fastest growing parts of Volvo Car Group over the last decade due to rapid development of Active Safety systems and functionality. By continuously launching innovative and world first active safety features Volvo Cars has positioned itself among the leaders in the automotive industry and now the work towards achieving our vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo continues.
Safety Electronics consists of 7 groups and make up approximately 110 employees. Within the department we develop systems for Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. To do this we use sensors such as Radars, Lidars, Ultrasonic sensors, Cameras, Accelerometers and pressure sensors. Through Sensor Fusion, these sensors can be combined to create an awareness of the vehicle surroundings that can be used by a number of different Driver Assistance and Safety Functions in support of the driver. We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialization of the systems in accordance with Volvo Product Development System, VPDS.
For our Near Field Sensing group we are now looking for a Systems Designer to join our autonomous parking team. You will be working with the latest ultrasonic technology in a fast paced and international working environment. As a Systems Designer Engineer, your main responsibility will be requirement management and alignment in the early phases of a project but you will also be a part of a project team working closely with a supplier to industrialize the system solution.
Main responsibilities
* Review and alignment of functional requirements and ownership of the Functional Realisation specification (FR)
* Allocating FR requirements to different systems within the distributed network of ECU's and aligning incoming requirements from the rest of the vehicle. Work in System Weaver to collate all our requirements in a System Requirements Description (SRD)
* As Functional Realisation Responsible (FRR) you will work with the function owners to create a Functional Safety Concept (FSC) that meets top level safety goals in order for the system design to be ISO26262 compliant
* Responsible for leading Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) practices, including tools and processes, to improve quality assurance of the specifications
* Together with the functional developer(s) support the industrialisation team with expertise in how the requirements should be understood from a customer perspective
Required qualifications
* M.Sc. degree in engineering or equivalent
* 3-5 years' experience from automotive industry
* Excellent English skills, both verbal and written
* Driver's license
Meritorious experience
* Experience of requirements management
* Experience from electronics or SW development or diagnostics
* Experience from electronics or SW Analysis & Verification
* Experience from Volvo tools (Elektra, TCr, System Weaver, SDA)
* Knowledge of Volvo base tech concepts (diagnostics, SWDL, VMM, etc.)
* Knowledge of Volvo FMA tools and processes (Six Sigma)
* Knowledge of Volvo Production Development Process (VPDS)

* The desire and ambition to work within active safety and advanced supportive systems
* Self-motivated and deliver on time, on target and with quality
* Very good communication skills
* Team player
