Summer Vacation Relief Position in Materials Analysis via X-ray Tomography

The Structure Analysis section of the Materials Physics department contributes materials characterization and understanding to materials research. There are some ten people working in the section presently, as technicians, development engineers and doctoral candidates/researchers, among others.
We are currently looking to fill a summer vacation relief position in the section. The work runs from June to August; other periods of work may be available upon agreement with the department. The position is full-time and work is scheduled weekdays during the daytime. We can offer you the opportunity to gain valuable experience from a multicultural workplace with competent colleagues with a variety of technical focuses.
Key performance areas
Your primary tasks involve the execution of materials analysis with the help of X-ray tomography. You will work regularly with routine tasks such as defect analysis in light material, but also with methods development for X-ray tomography technology. You will be given general directives for these tasks, but also the possibility of finding your own approach to problem solving in the area. After a basic introduction, you will work largely independently and, therefore, great weight will be placed on your ability to show initiative and to work on your own.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with an education within engineering or physics, including a focus on material sciences. Knowledge of image analysis and/or microscopy is advantageous. The position requires that you are communicative in English, both in speaking and in writing. It is to your advantage if you have completed the second or third year of your college/university education.
Thoroughness and an eye for detail, combined with a great interest in technology, are important qualities for your work in materials analysis with us. You are stimulated by development work, easily absorb information and instructions and work well independently, as well as with others. We expect that you are also curious about Sandvik and what our global organization can offer you.
