Position: Full time, on assignment at one of our core customers
Contract Type: Full Time
Location: Västra Götaland, Sweden
Responsibilities:
• Take responsibility for the development of existing and future products within the Steering System area from concept through to industrialisation.
• Manage requirements through the project lifecycle from concept selection to PPAP and ensure clear communication with all relevant stakeholders; prepare requirements by analysing customer and legal requirements.
• Decompose requirements from the system level to the component level, ensuring clear structure and full traceability.
• Identify and keep track of new technologies within the steering system field, definition and evaluation of future Steering concepts with ADAS, "by wire" and autonomous driving technologies in focus.
• Definition and follow up on requirements for both system and component level in collaboration with team members and other areas of the company.
• Conduct steering system analysis using state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies.
• Develop the steering system and its core element models, assisting in performance parameters identification based upon vehicle parameters.
• Monitor test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with designer engineers to implement solutions.
• Work in close collaboration with other departments from electrical, mechanical and software.
• Provide technical support in discussions with prospective suppliers and customers.
• Support functional safety engineers in the analysis of HaRa and the breakdown of safety goals to safety concepts and technical safety requirements, assisting in FMEA development.
• Identify and capture requirements verification criteria ensuring clear and complete traceability with requirements, test cases that are driven by DFMEA. Correlate steering system development work with Functional Safety analysis whilst ensuring the correct documented processes are followed.
• Define steering system parameter diagrams and its noise mitigation.
• Monitor and document electrical and communication interfaces (internal and external).
• Create and maintain calculation and simulation templates.
• Assist in system level test specifications and DVP development.
Required Expertise:
• A degree in Automotive, Mechanical or Systems Engineering (BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD).
• More than 5 years of experience within the automotive sector or similar.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working as System Engineer within a chassis hardware development.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience working with automotive steering systems.
• Experience in the development of and steer-by-wire systems is advantageous.
• Experience in the development and implementation of ADAS across the chassis engineering function is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of system engineering principles, frameworks and methodologies.
• Good knowledge of DFMEA practice.
• Good knowledge of suspension and steering system kinematic and compliance (KnC).
• Good knowledge of Functional Safety and ISO26262.
• An understanding of engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, mechatronics, electrical and software engineering.
• Understanding complex system development methods.
• An analytically directed mindset with the ability to apply systematic problem solving methodologies.
