We have an immediate opening for a Sr. Section Manager Agro Applications in Stenungsund. This is a permanent position on a full time basis located in Stenungsund, Sweden, reporting to the R&DI Director Surface Chemistry Europe.
Agro Applications develops and markets products for the agrochemical business. Agro Applications Research &
Development team's main tasks are to support the development of new businesses and products as well as
strengthen the current business through a customer focused development work. The Agro business is expanding and we are constantly building expertise in new areas. We work together with the R&D teams in the USA and Singapore.
Agro Applications provides specialty surfactants to industrial customers used as adjuvants, dispersants and emulsifiers in herbicide, fungicide and insecticide formulations. Our offering is based on a variety of technologies including most surfactant classes and synthetic as well as natural polymers.
The R&D team in Stenungsund supports the business by developing new concepts and products, solving our customers' problems and providing technical service.
The position has the managerial responsibility for the R&D efforts within Agro Applications to assure high innovation productivity. You will have personnel responsibility for a team of 4 people. The total R&D program also includes work in our synthesis and analytical departments that this position coordinates and budgets as well as in other AkzoNobel facilities such as Expert Capability Groups.
The main responsibilities include;
• Drive HSE-culture and activities in R&D team with Safety as a key value.
• Implement and drive the R&D segment strategy in the R&D teams.
• Global coordination for R&D activities within Agro.
• Support product launching by creating technical product information as well as managing process development and plant introduction.
• Be an active member of the Global Business Team Agro, providing insights and knowledge on chemistry, technology, Intellectual Property, etc.
• Interaction with and make presentations to customers and other commercial partners.
• Budget responsibility including cost control, drafting investment proposals etc.
• Initiate, develop and maintain contacts with external technology partners including Universities, Institutions
and other companies.
• Maintain strong links with AkzoNobel Research Teams globally including the US, Asia and South America
along with other Business Unit labs to understand and utilize available technologies available as well as
coordinating those resources for the global projects which you will be responsible for.
Requirements
To be successful in this position you should be a strong and experienced manager and scientist with a solid chemistry background based on an advanced academic degree, in organic chemistry, surface science or polymer chemistry or chemical engineering with strong chemistry background. You are familiar with application research, preferably in similar area.
You are a good communicator, both in writing and verbally, and of course fluent in English. As a person you are entrepreneurial and curious, responsible and results oriented. As a manager you have a passion for developing the talents of your team. You have the ability to drive change and have strong commercial acumen.
You are seen as a role model in consistency and integrity and continually strive to improve performance.
