hela Sverige The Data Management and Software Centre (DMSC), part of the European Spallation Source's Science Directorate invites applications for the role of IT Architect and User office software team lead.
We are currently seeking an IT Architect with proven skills in system design and team leadership to design and lead the delivery and operation of the ESS user portal.
The European Spallation Source, currently under construction in Lund will be the world's brightest source of cold neutrons available for materials and life science research. ESS will be a European flagship research facility with a broad community of around 3000 scientists accessing our infrastructure annually. For many the first point of contact with ESS will be through the ESS user web portal. The user portal will give scientific visitors access to key administrative tasks, as well as access to data and services allowing the research facility to operate in an efficient and effective manner. This position will thus have a central role in ensuring that visiting scientists will get a high level of user satisfaction when performing their experiments at ESS.
Description of main responsibilities
As user portal IT Architect, you will be in charge of driving the design and delivery of the ESS user portal, management of requirements and all aspects of stakeholder engagement. The role is expected to progress to that of a development team leader, responsible for coordination of the user portal software team with an ongoing development deployment and support role.
At DMSC you will enter a thriving environment with a number of highly skilled software development teams working together to create a great user experience based on state of the art open source Scientific HPC, DevOps and Cloud technologies. The teams work according to agile methodology, so expect a high pace, care for quality and strong interaction with other team members.
You will get an opportunity to join in the very early phases of the user portal software project, where important design decisions are taken that will shape the future solution. You will drive the building up of the team and lay the foundation for the development methodology.
An ideal applicant will have
• A strong background in computer or technical sciences (Master or Ph.D.)
• Experience with managing software projects with 4 or more full time developers
• Extensive experience in software requirement specification
• Good track record of stakeholder management
• Experience with deploying and managing business critical databases
• Experience with developing and deploying administrative systems such as ERP, CRM
• Full professional proficiency in English
