The department of Safety Electronics has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Group over the last decade. Active Safety is an area where Volvo, through continuous launching of new and innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo. Within the department we develop systems such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Full Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. To do this we use sensor systems based on sensor technologies such as Radar, Laser, Ultrasonic, Cameras and Accelerometers. Through Sensor Fusion, these sensors are combined to create an awareness of the vehicle surroundings that can be used by various Driver Assist and Safety Functions to support the driver.
Our group Radar System within Safety Electronics has the mission to develop the next generation active safety system. We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialisation of the systems in accordance with Volvo Product Development System. Our responsibility is to create the best radar solution to fit the strong demands for the future. Within the group we have Project leaders, Hardware- and Software responsible and Technical leader.
As Software Component Design Engineer you are responsible for designing the software in the components so we can meet the requirements with respect to technical, time and cost perspectives. An important part of the role is to define the interfaces between the logical architectural components that are realised of one or many logical design components. You are responsible to deliver quality and requirement descriptions and create plans to secure the SW delivery to the project. You are also the main contact for the software requirements internally and towards external suppliers. The development is executed in close cooperation with our internal software developers and our suppliers. The work include a lot of co-operation with other members within the organisation and put high demand of teamwork. It also include a lot of administration work and process developing for the role. This assignment do not include actual coding.
Main responsibilities
• Manage development a software components that fulfils the requirements from technical, time and cost perspective
• Plan and lead the development of software components from both internal and external software component suppliers
• Secure that software components are verified together with component testers and component suppliers
Required qualifications
• M.Sc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or similar
• Experience from structured work in a structured development process
• Experience from requirement management
• Experience in managing suppliers in an international environment
• Experience in software development in complex embedded systems
• Experience of working in requirement management tools such as System Weaver, Elektra or Doors or equal
• Experience of working with BaseTechnologies Software download, Diagnostics and Network management
• Knowledge in AutoSar, ISO26262
• Excellent English skills, both verbally and written
• Driver's licence B
