We are now looking for a Senior Specialist who will create and develop new-to-the-world packaging solutions, using FDCA-based polyesters enable by Stora Enso's proprietary FuraCore technology. Your work will lay the foundations of the materials brand owners will use in the near future to package their products, like carbonated drinks, juices and creams. You will create, test and validate the polyesters that enable these packaging solutions, leveraging a network of external companies with expertise in polymerization, conversion, and testing.
Furthermore, you will ensure that external R&D is coordinated with and implemented in Stora Enso's internal R&D efforts in line with internal strategy and management decisions.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
Projects - Design, carry out, lead and follow up projects and project activities. Educate and supervise colleagues. Ensure trials are run safely.
Monitor Technology - Follow and screen relevant technology and science (academic and commercial). Act on topics relevant for Stora Enso to engage in.
Communication - Create reports that can drive decision making. Present own work and own competence area in internal project meetings and external meetings. Be the expert in customer meetings.
You will be working in Biomaterials Division and report to the Team Manager R&D. We apply a hybrid way of working.
This role requires traveling.

The development of the core technology is making great progress at our pilot plant in Belgium, which will soon start to deliver FDCA for application development. The possibilities are endless, and it will be your task to create those compositions that enable the applications that make the most business sense. Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a person with deep technical understanding of synthesizing and processing polyesters and proven experience in R&D project management. You have the capability to develop new products and processes at lab and pilot scale with documented evidence of results in applicable research work. You have the basic financial knowledge including project budgeting and the ability to develop business cases. You have the ability to interact with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and you are skilled in obtaining support in a networked environment from people who do not report to you.
You are helpful and supportive and encourage harmony and cooperation. You share knowledge actively and encourage others to share their views. You recognize contribution of others and provide clear feedback on the performance and behavior of colleagues.
Your work experience has given you the knowledge how to delegate work to individuals based on their strengths and aspirations and how to coach others on new tasks and development needs.
Skills we expect you to have:
Experienced polyester chemist or polymer engineer.
Prior experience with FDCA polymerization.
Network of contractors and companies with the capability to produce PEF or specialty polyesters.
Experience on the improvement of polyesters with additives, merit if experience with PEF.
Experience with converting polyesters into shapes.
You communicate fluently in English.
