About this opportunity:
Ericsson Research develops new communication solutions and standards. The organization has the responsibility to provide Ericsson with world-class system concepts, technology innovations, and methodology. Rapidly growing demands for mobile broadband access in combination with needs for new technology and solutions motivated by the ongoing transformation of society where everything that benefits from being connected will be connected creates challenging and exciting opportunities. Building on our experience from real network operations, profound knowledge about existing standards, and forward-looking research, we invent and master advanced concepts and solutions that shape today's and tomorrow's mobile radio communication.
Research Area Radio is responsible for providing advanced system and signal processing concepts and solutions, including multi-antenna concepts and solutions, targeting standardization of radio access systems as well as implementation in network nodes and devices.

What you will do:
• Master physical layer techniques (signal processing, modulation, channel coding, parameter estimation, multi-antenna transmitter and receiver algorithms, etc.).
• Act as delegate in 3GPP RAN1, write contributions, represent Ericsson in meetings.
• Have knowledge of hardware possibilities and limitations, based on today's and tomorrow's technologies
• Use simulation tools for evaluating new concepts and solutions.
• Work with algorithm design, model and simulator tool development, evaluations, concept design and standardization.
• Investigate and evaluate concepts and solutions for future radio access technologies and standards, such as 6G.
• Be part of the continuous development and improvement of existing standards, such as New Radio (5G NR).
• Understand the interaction between link and system performance, to ensure that proposed access solutions are enabling efficient overall performance.
• Cooperate with internal and external partners.

The skills you bring:
For the available position, we are looking for a highly competent and driven researcher with competence and experience in signal processing, control theory, wireless communications, and communications hardware, such as antennas, power amplifiers, circuitry, and RF ASIC design High developed competence and understanding of MIMO related technologies is required. Experience from delegate role in 3GPP is an extra plus. The position require a Ph.D. degree and demonstrated experience and knowledge in the above mentioned required skills. Skills in structured object-oriented programming, such as C++, Phyton and Matlab, is also required, as simulations will be natural parts of the work in addition to analytical evaluations. Good knowledge in simulation and evaluation tool methodology is desirable. Interest in leadership and leadership experience are further qualifying, and since daily collaboration and interaction with other skilled researchers are the basis for our ways of working, having team skills is a necessity.
