SSPA/RISE currently expanding our services for wind propulsion of ships and is now looking for a new colleague with high competence within ship design and interests in the future of sustainable shipping.
About the role
In this role your main focus areas will be to Lead the development of processes for hydro and aerodynamic concept design and optimization of ships with, and without, wind propulsion at the system level
- Implement and lead projects primarily in concept design support and optimization of ships with, and without, wind propulsion in research/development projects and on behalf of our clients
- Hull design of ships using optimization and CFD tools
- Scientific publications, public presentations, reports to clients
You will be part of a strong development team of wind propulsion as well as the large team of Naval Architects, researchers, and engineers at RISE/SSPA, and you will have access to the latest developed methods and tools for ship design and wind propulsion.

Your profile
To be successful in this role you have
- a relevant master/PhD or equivalent within the maritime area, likely naval architect / hydro- and or aerodynamics, and minimum 5 years professional experience.
- experience from ship design and participated in a number of ship design projects
- experience from ship dynamic simulation tools. Knowledge of optimization tools is meritorious.
- Programming skills.
Basic knowledge and experience from sailing is meritorious and experience from CFD programs is welcomed.
You are genuinely curious, self-motivated and appreciate freedom with responsibility and have a solution-oriented attitude. You have great collaborative skills and to fit in our team you enjoy transparent teamwork and enjoy working in a small team where you bounce questions with each other.
