AstraZeneca is now recruiting a talented and motivated Senior Formulation/Analytical Scientist to join our New Modality Formulation team within the Advanced Drug Delivery (ADD) function that is part of Pharmaceutical Sciences at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The vision for Pharmaceutical Sciences is to create innovative and cost-effective solutions to shape the therapies of the future. As part of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the mission of ADD is to provide novel products to AstraZeneca's clinical pipeline. Our portfolio of projects spans traditional small molecules, peptides, proteins, RNA based therapeutics and cell therapies across AstraZeneca's therapy areas.

As a Senior Scientist working in the clinical phase within ADD you will support and lead drug projects from a formulation and analytical perspective, from candidate drug nomination over Phase 2a clinical trials. You will work as a member of cross-functional pharmaceutical project teams, with a large degree of independence representing your own group and area of expertise. The work is done in close collaboration with other formulation- and analytical scientists in Gothenburg, Sweden and Cambridge, UK.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Develop and characterize delivery systems for our New Modality projects and bridge the formulation development from early preclinical formulations to product design, including patient compliance, device strategies and manufacturability.
* Analytical method development, stability analyses and release analyses for drug product.
* Maintain knowledge of the regulatory and compliance guidelines as related to the role.
* Prepare documentation and formal reports with a clear understanding of its reliability, interpret findings and draw authoritative conclusions and recommendations and where appropriate to GMP standard.
* Generate CMC documents for regulatory submissions or enquiries.
* Apply technical knowledge to drug projects and the evaluation of new technology/processes. Collaborate with specialist scientific and/or technology networks.
* Support our publication strategy by driving and/or engaging in internal and external research activities.

Essential Requirements

For this role, we are looking for either a formulation scientist with experience in analytical chemistry or an analytical chemist with experience in formulation development. We think that you have:

* MSc degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Pharmaceutics, Biotechnology or Chemistry).
* Experience in formulation (e.g., solutions, suspensions, solids) and/or analytical (e.g., LC-MS, CE, bioassays) method development of biomolecules and/or complex delivery systems including authoring CMC contribution to regulatory submissions.
* Thorough understanding of principles, applications of Safety Health and Environment (SHE) as well Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices (GMP/GLP).
* Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing.

Desirable Requirements

* Ph.D degree or 5+ years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline.
* Exposure to multiple disciplines in Pharmaceutical Development, CMC, and related functions.
* Experience in development of nanomedicines.
* A clear interest in scientific publishing, presentations, articles and posters
