Northvolt is now looking for a Senior Director of Advanced Materials to be part of our team. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer you will be responsible for material development for the next generation of Li-ion cells.

With a thorough understanding of optimization and manufacturing engineering of battery material process you will be also deeply involved in the process of optimization, the iterative work leading to the highest yield rate for the production and the optimization of material characteristics. You will serve as a technical expert for buyers, strategic suppliers and technical team members.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing Advanced Materials team
Developing advanced LiBs for electric vehicles and other applications
Expertise for liquid & all solid-state batteries
Characterization for LiBs
Interface with Chief Development Officer to understand team member needs.
Manage the milestone of materials for current / future
Manage progress and review of the development schedule for Advanced materials
Ensure delivery of the project activities and interact with different Northvolt teams and departments.
Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between customers and Northvolt's internal stakeholders

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience

PhD in Chemical Engineering
Experience (8+ years) from the development of advanced batteries, in particular lithium-ion based technologies
Demonstrated expertise and success in the development of battery materials for lithium-ion battery
Strong background from technical culture and proven engineering excellence
Must have worked in a multi-cultural environment
Great communication skills as you will be in constant interaction with customers and team members from both the technical and business development side
Management experience in working with international colleagues and customers

Specific Skills/Abilities

Excellent English written and oral skills, Japanese is highly evaluated, and Korean a big plus
Ability to work under high pressure with tight deadlines
Strong organization skills and used to manage a range of activities simultaneously
Experience from start-up environment is a plus
Ability to work well with others and manage the international environment

Full-time employment, fixed salary. The job requires travelling, mainly in Asia.
