Senior Advanced Engineering Leader - Virtual Optimisation

The group Strategy, concepts and advanced engineering is responsible for development prior to start of the industrial phase, including advanced engineering and concept development at the department Painted body and closures. The department is globally responsible for all part of the product development phases and maintenance regarding surface treatments, body structures, closures and -mechanisms. Within the group there are specialist competence in materials-, joining-, structure-, concept- and virtual optimisation development. The work is carried out in pre-programs and advanced engineering projects in a broad network within Volvo Car Group and to a large extend with external partners.

As Senior Advanced Engineering Leader - Virtual Optimisation you will be part of a team and be responsible for developing technical solutions, methods and ways of working within the optimisation area. The responsibility includes planning, executing and delivering projects within the department and to be a competence resource in special assignments. The work will be carried out in close cooperation with specialists in the team, with design engineering groups at the department, in network within Volvo Car Group and also in external partnership projects.

Main responsibilities

• Develop technical solutions, methods and ways of working within the optimisation area
• Plan, execute and deliver projects within the department
• Be a competence resource in special assignments
• Develop methods to include virtual optimisation as an efficient, quality assured method in the early development phase

Required qualifications

• M.Sc in engineering
• Documented experience in optimisation work, and in using various virtual software (i.e. Optistruct, ModeFrontier, LSOpt and FEM softwares i.e. Ansa, Hypermesh, LSDyna, Nastran)
• Experience in project management
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's license (B-level)
• Experience and knowledge in advanced engineering and mechanical engineering is meritorious
• An asset would be knowledge in German
