Pushing boundaries for a sustainable future

Can clean-energy tech change the world? We say yes. Here's why. The way we heat our homes today is responsible for 15% of all of Europe's CO2 emissions. Switching to sustainable, clean energy solutions is the easiest and most impactful way households can play their part in net zero.

We are a next-generation home energy champion. We passionately believe that creating smart, sustainable homes is our way to make a positive impact in the world. Clean-energy tech is purposeful work. Urgent work. We'd love you to do it with us.

About the role
We are looking for a Rust developer that will help us gap the bridge between our low-level code and cloud infrastructure. You will work in our Engagement team, the team that focusses on the entire customer journey after the purchase of our product. This team is focussed on delivering the best offering to our clients and to engage them with our products.

You will work at the intersection of embedded systems and cloud computing, playing a critical role in designing and developing software that enables seamless communication and data transfer between low-level devices and cloud-based applications. You will work closely with a team of hardware engineers, software developers, and cloud architects to define software requirements and design specifications, write and test code, troubleshoot issues, and deploy software to embedded systems and cloud platforms.

This role will take the lead in how we develop within the Rust environment. You will set the framework of our activities and lead/help other developers with guidance in their operational activities. Your other responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing embedded systems software using Rust and related tools, including pipelines, testing, and automation.
• Collaborate with other developers, including hardware engineers, software developers, and cloud engineers, to ensure seamless integration between different layers of the system.

Who are you

From a technical perspective, we would like you to have:

• 5-8 years of commercial experience within software development
• 1-2 years of commercial experience with Rust
• Experience with Linux
• Experience in a product company and/or start-up environment
• Understanding of how IoT and wireless devices can be connected
• Agile methodologies/Scrum

We would even appreciate it if you have some experience with/knowledge of some of the following:

• Experience working with IoT, Bluetooth and wireless devices
• Experience with Kotlin
• Knowledge of databases (SQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• DevOps understanding; maintaining own code (AWS)
• Kubernetes/Docker & Terraform experience

As a person we would like you to have/be:

• High ambition and entrepreneurial mindset (self-starter)
• A personality who thrives in an ever-changing environment and can create structure from the ground up
• Fast-moving and solution-oriented
• Flexibility to learn new programming languages and stacks

What's in it for you
• Competitive salary
• Rewarding secondary benefits
• The chance to build a global company and transformative products
• Fast-moving growth journey making a positive impact on the world
• Supportive and inclusive culture alive with learning opportunities.

At Aira, We're not just champions of next-generation energy, we're champions in Diversity and Inclusion too. We believe that a diverse workforce sparks innovation and creativity and enables us to better serve our customers and communities.
