The British Embassy in Sweden is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are looking for a Residence Staff.

Main purpose of job:

As Residence Staff you will ensure the highest standards of hygiene, manage household supplies and assist in the smooth running of the UK Ambassador's residence, including assisting with running official events and meetings. This role requires discretion and ensuring the privacy and security of the occupants and guests at our residence.

What will you expected to achieve:

Event Support
• Provide support of all operations at the Ambassador's Residence and assist the Residence team to ensure consistently high standards are met in the delivery of official events.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of official events, dinners and meetings.
• Assist the Residence Manager & Residence Chef with meeting Health and Safety standards.
• Ensure guest rooms are prepared and welcoming for visitors.
• Support catering services as required, including table setting and serving.
• Liaise with contractors, vendors and service providers.
• Liaise with event leads and other embassy staff in the organisation and management of events.
• Update local leadership team on Residence matters, escalating as required.

Housekeeping
• Monitoring inventory of cleaning and household supplies.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks throughout the Residence including, public areas, guest residential areas, and the Ambassadors' private quarters.
• Manage laundry services, including washing, ironing and folding.
• Organise specialist and/or deep cleaning of Residence as required.
• Follow an agreed disinfection routine throughout the Residence.
• Assist with additional tasks as requested, including errands or special projects.

Essential on arrival:
• Effective verbal communication skills in English and Swedish at a C1 level according to CEFR*
• At least 3 years experience in cleaning, housekeeping duties, events co-ordination and/or other relevant working experience,
• Ability to understand and communicate with wide range of internal and external stakeholders,
• Excellent customer service skills,
• Resilient; able to deal with pressure and work flexibly to deal with competing demands,
• Organised and 'can do' attitude with the ability to work independently.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
• Prior experience working in an Ambassador's residence
• Prior experience working in a 5 star hotel or similar environments

This is a fixed term contract for 11 months to cover a maternity leave. Full time employment (40h) per week.
The Embassy offers a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including job-specific training and broader learning linked to the Diplomatic Academy.
