The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment (www.slu.se/aquatic-sciences) is a competence centre for applied environmental science, with a national responsibility for assessing the condition of Swedish surface waters with respect to water chemistry, pollution and aquatic biota. The department has some 100 employees. The research focuses on geochemical and hydrological processes, aquatic ecology and biodiversity, as well as on aquatic ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry. The department is part of a Soil-Water-Environment cluster, a recently established competence center for landscape-level processes. T
Duties:
Conduct research and write scientific reports within projects that study climate-related, long-term changes in the food webs of Arctic/alpine lakes and the effects of ongoing oligotrophication. You will also participate in field work, as well as in the supervision of a doctoral student and MSc- and BSc-students.
Qualifications:
The applicant must hold a PhD in aquatic ecology or equivalent, preferably with a profiling in paleolimnology, and postdoc experience. You should also have good knowledge of statistics, including documented experience of the software "R", as well as good knowledge of how stable isotopes are applied in food web ecology. You should further have experience of field work in the mountainous terrain, have experience of supervision, and have knowledge of the taxonomy and ecology of aquatic invertebrates. Good communication skills in oral and written English is a requirement, as well as a valid driver's license. Great importance is given to personal qualities such as good cooperation ability.
