At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, communications officers, network technicians and engineers. Here we have the research specialisations of Embedded Systems, and Innovation and Product Realisation. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
The School of Innovation, Design and Technology (IDT) announces a position of a Researcher in computer science with a focus on clock synchronization for industrial networks and embedded system security, with placement in the division of Networked and Embedded Systems (NES). The scope of the position is 10 % under two years.

We are looking for a skilled PhD in Computer Science, with a research background in embedded systems, industrial network communication, and security of safety-critical systems to join FIN and Serendipity Projects.

The tasks to be conducted within the framework of the employment mainly consist of research and supervision of PhD students, in the area of clock synchronization for industrial networks and embedded systems security.

When performing the research and PhD supervision the candidate is expected to work closely with the MDH staff and other scientific partners, as well as the national industrial partners of the university.

Qualification requirements
The qualification requirement for appointment as a Researcher is a PhD degree in computer science, data communication or networking, or equivalent academic competence.

The applicant's research focus should be within applied and industry-oriented research with a focus on industrial networks communication and embedded systems. Applicants must have experience in: i) working with clock synchronization, ii) security as a system property for safety-critical systems, its assurance and providing related guarantees, and iii) second and third level students supervision.

To be qualified for appointment as a Researcher the applicant must have demonstrated the academic skills required for the appointment, the ability to carry out both independent and team-based research within national and international environment.

Merit
Publications in leading conferences and journals, as well as proven track record of collaboration with industrial partners are essential. International experience and expertise in industrial networks communication and embedded systems are important aspects. In particular, experience in the fields of clock synchronization, embedded systems security assurance, safety-critical systems as well as collaborative research with industry and hands-on industrial experience in listed topics are considered of merit.
