We are one of seven research center within ABB with world class expertise and state-of-the-art resources to support innovation in the areas of both power technology and automation. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries.
With a team of about 50 highly skilled Scientists and Engineers you will be driving an efficient and cost effective organization in projects assigned from the business units and other departments within SECRC. The department of Technology Consulting is providing expertise in applied mechanics, electrical testing, material science and chemistry on a consulting basis to ABB business units globally.
We are now looking for a business oriented leader with a clear customer focus who will lead this department!
Tasks
In this role you will be contributing with competence and resources for consulting and troubleshooting when requested from the business units. The department is also expected to contribute with identification and development of technologies, technology platforms and intellectual property. The department has its own profit and loss responsibility and need therefore to act with higher business acumen than other research departments. In this interesting and challenging role your responsibilities will for example be:
• With the team provide technical support to internal and external contacts.
• Ensuring that technical results and competences are in world class.
• Responsible for running, maintaining and developing excellent local laboratory resources, in particular Material labs, Chemistry labs and Mechanical labs
• Plans and ensures an optimal project portfolio for the department and consulting activities within the center.
• Promotes ABB R&D internally and externally
• Manages organization and people development, i.e. ensures appropriate competences are developed and acquired within the team.
• Profit and loss responsibility for the department and establishes team operational budget.
Qualifications
As a Manager of this department we expect that you have a Master degree or preferably a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant technical area as well as business experience. We also expect that you have experience of management and leadership in senior roles and experience of your own research. Fluency in English, both written and spoken is prerequisite. If you are proficient in Swedish it is a plus or we appreciate an interest in learning Swedish. Of course you have a strong business acument.
As a person you have strategic thinking skills and are a strong communicator. You are also a natural leader with a focus on strategic planning, operational and process development. You have strong interrelation skills and a delivery-oriented mind set. It is also important that you have a positive attitude and ability to inspire others.
