The Department of Neuroscience includes several research groups working on different aspects of nervous system function, both under normal conditions and in various disease states. Research projects include a broad range of studies on the molecular and cellular levels, networks of neurons, and the organization of the nervous system as a whole. The Department has a flat organization with 40 researchers, of which 24 are full professors and 65 PhD students.

Teaching represents a fundamental activity at the Department, which participates in several undergraduate courses and postgraduate education programs. Each year approximately 15 students receive their PhD from our Department and many of our graduates have gone onto distinguished careers in the academic or private sector.

The Brain, Body and Self Laboratory (Group Ehrsson) use neuroimaging and behavioral methods to\nstudy how we come to experience our own body as an object distinct from the environment. Our aim is to characterize the perceptual rules and brain mechanisms whereby a central representation of one\'s own body is constructed by the integration of signals from the different sensory modalities (e.g., vision, touch, and proprioception). We also investigate how the central body representation influences how we think, feel and remember ourselves, and how the external world looks to us.

Duties

The main responsibility of the coordinator/assistant is to support the professor Henrik Ehrsson in his administrative and research-related activities.

The position has two main duties, which each corresponds to approximately 50% of the position. This includes various task such as assisting with handling invoices and orders, arranging lab visits for job applicants and foreign researchers, drafting of ethical applications (in Swedish) together with members of the group, preparing documents for procurements, organizing data for long-term archiving, manage the web site and social medial platforms, etc. The second duty is to assist prof Ehrsson in conducting behavioral and brain imaging studies on body perception. This includes experiments on the rubber hand illusion and various full-body illusion paradigms. The methods include questionnaires, psychophysiological recordings (SCR, EMG), virtual reality technology, various sensory stimulation systems and functional magnetic resonance imaging. The assistant will collect data and perform data preprocessing and analyses.
