hela Sverige As the Quality Expert (Consultant), you will work side by side with other areas of our organization to support the commission, start-up and ramp-up, and safeguarding of operations. You will play a pivotal role in mentoring, providing training and learnings to our teams, imparting your invaluable industry knowledge and experience to overcome challenges faced in specific areas of operations.
The scope will cover safety compliance, technical skills, leadership development, and cultural integration; providing continuous guidance on real-time decisions and projects while encouraging reflective learning with an emphasis on fact-based decision-making. You will have proven experience of building from scratch, and your role would involve developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive quality management systems within the steel mill, ensuring compliance with industry standards and certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, lead and mentor a collaborative team while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of quality management systems to include the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and effective policies.
• Lead plant certification effort with compliance to industry standards, including but not limited to ISO 9001, VDA, and IATF 16949.
• Contribute to the development and establishment of a new plant and the QMS, ensuring quality standards and regulations are met.
• Lead in-depth technical sessions, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring within your area of expertise, to impart your knowledge of quality management systems, inspection techniques, and industry best practices.
• Provide training and resources to ensure the team is equipped with the latest quality control techniques, best practices, and industry knowledge.
• Transfer industry-leading knowledge regarding quality assurance, testing protocols, and quality standards specific to the steel industry.
• Troubleshoot complex quality issues, provide solutions, and guide the team through quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure that quality objectives are aligned with business goals and that best practices are being followed across the company.
• Regularly evaluate progress, providing feedback on the development of the local team and identifying areas for further training and support.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or quality management, or another related field.
• Six Sigma Black Belt and Lead Auditor certification is preferred.
• Comprehensive experience in quality management, together with extensive leadership experience in heavy industry, preferable in steel industry, with a proven track record of implementing best practices.
• Previous experience in mentoring or training employees in a technical or industrial environment is preferred.
• Experience in the development of programs for Conflict Minerals Reporting, REACH, and RoHS compliance.
• Experience with Responsible Steel certification is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide practical solutions to complex issues.
• Proficiency with statistical process control and quality control tools.
• Knowledge of environmental and sustainability standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively transfer knowledge and foster a collaborative learning environment.
