Project Assistant
To work in the context of the Somali segments of an EU-funded project called E-Platform: Telling the real story - Information campaign targeting Somalis and Eritreans in Ethiopia and Somalia.
This information campaign will mainly reach out to Eritrean and Somali refugees in countries of transit and first asylum in Africa, with a view to inform them about the full scope of the perils and difficulties related to irregular onward movements to Europe and about other possibilities to find protection and durable solutions. Ultimately it should enable concerned people to take an informed decision about their plans and about possible onward movements. The Project Assistant, under the direct supervision of the project manager and in close cooperation with the other Project Assistant, will contribute to the efficient implementation of the project.
In particular the Project Assistant will collect and support the analysis of information on the level of awareness among the Somali refugees of the dangers of smuggling and trafficking and will contribute to the dissemination of relevant messages among the refugees in countries of transit and first asylum, as well within the Somali diaspora in Europe.
Competencies:
• Basic knowledge of international refugee protection and UNHCR's mandate.
• General familiarity with the regional mixed migration dynamics in the Mediterranean region.
• Fluency in Somali and English are essential, notions of Arabic would be desirable.
• Some experience with Social Media; knowledge of video and audio editing and skills in website development and maintenance, as well as content management would be an asset.
• Links with relevant stakeholders in the Somali communities at the Horn of Africa and among the diaspora in Europe for building strategic alliances would be an asset.
Other requirements:
Candidates must be entitled to work in Sweden and hold a valid travel document.
